Authorities have arrested a suspect in Sacramento in connection with a 2024 double homicide in Watsonville.
According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, the unidentified suspect was taken into custody earlier today and faces two counts of murder.
The case dates back to October 4, 2024, when deputies responded to a reported shooting on the 700 block of Carlton Road in Watsonville. There, they found two victims—Jeremiah Rios Aguilera and Giovani Aburto Lopez—both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Tragically, both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The arrest was made through a joint effort between the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office and the Sacramento Police Department.
