How Authorities Located the Suspects

The U.S. Marshals Office alerted Mohave County detectives on Monday that Mota and Rivera-Valles had likely traveled to Arizona. The investigation quickly led authorities to a location north of Golden Valley, near Cottonwood Road and U.S. Highway 93.

Multiple agencies joined the search, including the Bullhead City Police Department SWAT team, Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers, and a DPS helicopter.

The suspects were eventually spotted driving a stolen vehicle in the Dolan Springs area. Officers followed them into Golden Valley, where Mota and Rivera-Valles surrendered without incident.

Charges Filed

  • Johnathan Raymon Mota was booked on a felony warrant for homicide issued out of California.

  • Katrine Rivera-Valles was booked on a felony warrant for accessory to homicide.

Both remain in custody as they await extradition to California.
